Lost Beats: First Steps & Face‑Plants (Vol. 1 and Vol. 2) are a raw collection of early demos, outtakes, and experiments recorded well before Blacklight Beat Patrol was officially born. These are tracks from the days of hawking music online and jumping ship from being a cool bassist to a clueless electronic musician.
These tracks capture the foundational years of stumbling through new tools, smashing punk‑leaning guitars into looping synths, and slowly figuring out how to make electronic production hold together. Some pieces are rough sketches, others are abandoned ideas, but all of them felt too “interesting” to leave buried between old couch cushions.
Fun fact: one of these tracks—newly titled 'Marshmallows in the Mosh Pit'—was actually a finalist for the Castle Crashers game soundtrack contest back in the day on Newgrounds. It didn't end up in the game, but I got a cool t-shirt. Funny how life events seem to be marked with the distribution of a t-shirt…
